About This Opportunity

StemCore is a state-of-the-art, not-for-profit comprehensive pluripotent stem cell and human functional genomics core facility that offers a wide range of services to biomedical scientists in fields ranging from stem cell biology to cancer biology. StemCore is funded by the Australian Federal Government under their NCRIS (National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Scheme) program, the Queensland State Government and UQ. It is the only stem cell core facility operating in Australia. The services offered by StemCore include the provision of human embryonic stem cell lines (hESCs), off-the-shelf and custom-generated induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs), targeted differentiation of stem cells to a range of cell types, genetic engineering of stem cells using CRISPR/Cas9 and other approaches, and training on stem cell generation, maintenance and downstream applications.

As the Facility Manager – StemCore, you will provide strategic, operational and scientific management of the facility, including responsibility for personnel and finance management, business development and scientific outcomes.

Our Ideal Candidate

You will hold a PhD or equivalent related experience in a field of stem cell biology and have substantial biological research experience, including demonstrated ability to culture and differentiate pluripotent stem cells. Experience in research contract management and reporting as well as evidence of a contribution to research and research management will be essential.  Exceptional leadership, negotiations and relationship building skills will see you excel in this role. Experience in providing core PSC services and with genome editing techniques, including CRISPR Cas 9 and similar approaches, or experience in developing organoid cultures based on stem cells would be highly desirable.

What We Can Offer

This is a full-time, fixed term position for up to three (3) years at Academic level B.

The full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $ $99,542.79 - $ $118,206.74 plus super of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be in the range $ $116,465.07 - $ $138,301.88 per annum.
