About This Opportunity

A Postdoctoral Research Fellow is sought engage in research and grow their research profile within The Program in Complex Trait Genomics (PCTG).

This position will be involved in the Research Project titled ‘Analysis of genetic and genomic datasets for disease prediction and prediction of unknown effects of medication’. This project will require statistical genetics analyses of large genetic and genomic datasets (including lipidomic data), to improve our ability to predict cardiovascular disease, and also to predict the unknown (beneficial or adverse) side effects of cardiovascular medication.

This position is primarily located at our picturesque St Lucia campus.

Our Ideal Candidate

A PhD or progress towards PhD in statistical genetics, quantitative genetics, bioinformatics, or other relevant areas in addition to knowledge or expertise in the principles of genetics and genomics is essential to the role. A proven ability to code efficiently in programming languages (e.g. R) will be highly advantageous. As part of the PCTG our ideal candidate will possess demonstrated high-level communication, organisational, problem solving, and interpersonal skills including the ability to effectively collaborate and will demonstrate evidence of research productivity.

Experience in analysis of large-scale genetic and genomic data, and Mendelian randomisation analyses, is highly desirable.

What We Can Offer

This is a full-time, fixed term position for up to two years at Academic level A.

The full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $70,729.74 - $94,637.91, plus super of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be in the range $90,525.59 - $121,125.16 per annum.
